Our Topcats went to Lee's Summit North Dance Invitational for competition today and came home with some bling for trophy case! Their Mix earned them 3rd Place and they placed 4th in Hip Hop! Keep working hard, ladies! Congratulations to our girls and coaches Holt and Jeffries!




The Milan Emerald Concert Band traveled on 01/22/25 for the second annual Putnam County - Sullivan County Honor Band Day hosted by Princeton High School under the direction of Mrs. Karen Harrison of Kirksville High School.


These elementary bookworms have been chosen to represent their grade level as a candidate for Mr. & Ms. Seuss. Elementary students may bring in money to vote for their favorite candidates. $1=1 vote. One boy and one girl with the most votes will be crowned Mr. & Ms. Seuss to celebrate Read Across America Week from March 4-7th. Voting ends at 9am on January 31st. Be on the lookout for additional information to be shared about our other Read-A-Thon activities.


🎉🏀🎉1,000 Point Club🎉🏀🎉Hannah Sanders scored 1,115 points in her high school career from 2009-2013. Her parents are Becky Sanders and Roger Sanders. Hannah’s ability to score points and help her team did not go unnoticed. In high school, she earned many postseason honors including 2X All-Conference, Tri Rivers Conference MVP, 2X All District, 1st Team All Daily Express, KMZU Dream Team, and 2nd Team All-State. As a team, the Milan Ladycats won their first Class 2 District Championship in Hannah’s junior year in 2012. After high school, Hannah committed to Avila University to play basketball. She was a member of the Basketball team there for 2 years. She graduated from Avila with a Bachelor of Science degree. She is currently working at St. Luke's East Hospital in Radiology. She also runs her own small business as a pet groomer.

English Language Learner (ELL) students in grades kindergarten through twelfth grade will participate in the administration of the REQUIRED ACCESS for ELLs language proficiency test beginning January 28, 2025. With this information, we will be able to monitor individual ELL student progress on an annual basis. Students participating in the ACCESS assessment next week will need to have a set of earbuds, a fully charged Chromebook, and a pencil.

🎉🏀🎉3,000 Point Club🎉🏀🎉Cady Pauley scored a grand total of 3,074. Cady is the daughter of Stephen and Dr. Ashley Pauley.
Throughout high school, Cady quickly caught the attention of area coaches and basketball fans and earned many individual honors including being named the KIRXL Athlete of the Week X2, a 4x Tri-Rivers All-Tournament Team member, the Tri-Rivers Classic MVP, MAX Preps Athlete of the Week X3, McDonald's All American Nominee, Ozarks Athlete of the Week, 4x Milan Tournament Team, Milan Tournament MVP, Complete Family Medicine/KTVO Athlete of the Month, 4X 1st Team All-Conference Unanimous, 4X All District, 3X Kres All-Star, 2X Class 3 All-State, Class 3 Player of the Year her Junior Season, KAAN All-Star, 4X KMZU Dream Team, 2X KMZU Player of the Year, 3X Prep Hoops All State, 3X Prep Hoops Starting 5, 4xNE Media All-District Team, 2X KIRXL/Jammco Female Athlete of the Year, NMOA All-Star Game, and 2X Kirksville Daily Express Basketball Player of the year. Cady led her team to a Tri-Rivers Classic Championship, two Milan Tournament Championships, two Class 3 District Championships, and three GRC Championships--winning the overall one time, and our personal favorite, the Ladycats’ first Elite 8 appearance in this beautiful facility we are proud to call our home court. Cady also holds many state records for her play throughout her high school career. Cady’s 3,074 points leaves her 8th overall in State of Missouri Scoring History. She also holds a single game score record for the State of Missouri as a Freshman with a single game scoring high of 57 points achieved in a shootout vs Green City during the Milan Tournament. She also holds the state record for the most points scored in a quarter with 28 points. In her Senior season, she averaged 33 points per game and 9.7 rebounds per game which ranked her 10th nationally by MaxPreps in scoring. Cady committed to Missouri State her junior year of HS. With a coaching change, she opened up her recruiting and committed to the University of Virginia taking the opportunity to follow the coach who originally recruited her. For UVA, she played two years in the ACC and appeared in 44 games. She then entered the transfer portal this past spring and transferred back home to Missouri State University where she is currently playing as a Lady Bear. Cady is in her junior year and majoring in elementary education.


The JV Basketball Shootout at Home on Saturday 1/25/25 has been canceled.


🎉🏀🎉1,000 Point Club🎉🏀🎉Carly Bohle helped to turn the Ladycats program around during her 2006-2010 career, scoring 1757 points. Carly’s parents are Brad and Mary Bohle.
Carly was an incredibly competitive Ladycat and earned many postseason Accolades including being an All-Conference and an all-district player all four years. She was also the Conference MVP, Kirksville Daily Express Basketball Player of the Year, and a KMZU Dream Team member. Carly led her team to win the Marceline tournament for the first time in many years. Carly averaged 25.8 points, 7.8 rebounds, and 3.5 assists per game. She was also dependable from the charity line, making 73% of her free throw attempts. Carly married Tyler Arnold in 2014 and together they have three beautiful daughters, Braylee, Kinsley, and Wrenlee. Carly currently serves our community as the Sullivan County Assessor.


The Varsity, Junior Varsity, and Elementary basketball games will still be played as scheduled tonight, 1/21/25.

🎉🏀🎉1,000 Point Club🎉🏀🎉Ryan Dabney scored 1,560 points from 2016 to 2020 wearing the green and gold. Ryan is the son of John and Andrea Dabney.
Beyond his scoring, Ryan also led his team on the boards accumulating an outstanding 1012 rebounds in his career. His many high school accomplishments include being a 2X 1st Team MBCA All-State player, a MBCA District Player of the Year 3x, a 4X 1st Team MBCA All-District player, a MO Preps Hoops Class 2 Final Four All-Tournament Team member, a MBCA Senior Academic All-State player, 1st Team NEMO All-District player, a 4X 1st Team GRC member, Tri-Rivers Classic MVP x2, Milan Tournament MVP Kirksville Daily Express Basketball Player of the Year (back to back), a KRES All-Star x3, KMZU Dream Team, KMZU Dream Team Class 2 Player of the Year, and a KTVO Complete Family Medicine Student-Athlete of the Month. Ryan and Hunter were on the same team throughout their careers, so Ryan was also a member of the team that won the Marceline Tournament, Novinger Tournament, Tri-Rivers Classic x2, Milan Tournament x4, GRC Eastern Division Champions x3, GRC Overall Conference Champions x 2. Their teams had exciting postseasons and were the District Champions in 2018, 2019, and 2020, the Sectional Champions in 2018 and 2020, and made a Final Four Appearance in 2020. After high school, Ryan committed to Truman State University to play football. He was a 4-year participant, and 2 2-year letter winner as a tight end. He received 2 Championship Bowl Rings and made the GLVC Academic All-Conference Team. He has received his Bachelor of Arts in Mathematics and is currently working towards his Master of Arts in Education. He just completed his first season as a Head Coach here at Milan for the Junior High boys.

🎉🏀🎉1,000 Point Club🎉🏀🎉As a 2017 graduate, Wyatt Bohle ended his high school career with a grand total of 1,457 points. Wyatt’s parents are Brad and Mary Bohle.
Throughout High School, Wyatt averages 16.2 points per game and 7.5 rebounds per game from 2013-2017. He was a First Team all-conference member two years in a row as well as being a member of the all-district team two years in a row. Wyatt was voted to be a member of the KMZU dream team and led the Wildcats to a Milan Tournament Championship that began a tradition of Wildcat Champions for many years to follow. After high school, Wyatt moved to Iowa where he lives with his wife Hannah and son Jett. He is a construction manager for Segra.


🎉🏀🎉1,000 Point Club🎉🏀🎉From 2016 to 2020, Hunter Shaw scored 1,379 points for the Wildcats. His parents are Tabitha and Jeff Eddy and Michael and Angie Ballance. Hunter’s high school accolades include being a 2-time Tri Rivers Classic All Tournament Team member, a 3-time Milan All Tournament Team member, a 3-time KRES ALL STAR, a 3-time All Conference and All District recipient, and 2-time KMZU Dream Team member. Hunter was a member one of the most successful eras in Wildcat Basketball History and was a member of the team when they won the Novinger Tournament, the Marceline Tournament, Tri Rivers Classic Tournament - twice, the Milan Tournament all four years of his high school career, the GRC Eastern Division Champions three times, the GRC Overall Conference Champions twice, District Champions in 2018, 2019, 2020, Sectional Champions 2018, 2020, and when the Wildcats made a Final Four Appearance 2020. After High School, Hunter attended NCMC where he obtained his associates degree and in that time, spent some time volunteering at Milan C-2 for various sports and teams. Hunter is currently working at Smithfield in the Shipping Department.


The final day of the Milan Tournament kicks off today at noon! We have 8 games, 4 in each gym. Our Ladycats will play at noon in the HS Gym and our Wildcats will play at 130 in the Elem Gym. The student section leaders want to remind our students, today is all-out green and gold!


🎉🏀🎉1,000 Point Club🎉🏀🎉A 1995 graduate, Justin Danielson, was the first member to join the 1000+ point club for Milan with 1,333 career points scored. His parents are Lanny and Brenda Danielson and his siblings are Curtis and Kristen.
During his high school career 1991-1995, Justin was named the Daily Express Player of the Year, was a 3x Daily Express All-Star 1st Team member, a KRES All-Star, an All Heartland Team member, a 2x KMZU Dream Team member, was named to the Northeast MO Officials Association All-Star Team, was a 3X Tri-Rivers All-Conference 1st Team member, a 2x All-District 1st Team member, and a KTTN All-Star as well as a KTVO All-Star 1st Team member. Justin led his team to the District 8 Championship, the Wildcat’s first appearance since 1963. After High School, Justin went to Central Methodist University and Redshirted for the basketball team, he then went to NCMC and took a year off of basketball. After NCMC, he transferred to Central Christian College of the Bible where he played two seasons and then was the Head Coach for three seasons. Justin has been in the Ministry for over 26 years now and is currently living in Centralia MO where he serves the Parkview Christian Church. He has been married to his wife Jenifer for over 25 years. Together, they have three children, a daughter Hannah (21), and two sons Micah (18) and Mason (16). Justin has continued to be active in sports and has coached in various sports for over 20 years, he says basketball has always been his favorite. He leaves us with one final reminder, “God is Good!”


🎉🏀🎉1,000 Point Club🎉🏀🎉Ahmet Niasse, the son of Adjaratou Gaye scored 1,189 points during his high school career starting in 2021 and ending in 2024.
Ahmet was a 3-year starter and earned All-Conference all three of those years. He was also awarded All-District two times, was the District Player of the year, a member of the KMZU Dream Team, Tri-Rivers All-Tournament team, and the Milan Tournament All-Tournament Team. After high school, Ahmet went to work for Reger Electric as an apprentice to get his masters in plumbing, electric, and HVAC.


7-12 Parents/Guardians:
1st Semester Grade Cards for 7th-10th grade students were emailed and archived on the parent portal this afternoon. They will be mailed tomorrow. For those with Juniors and Seniors, we are hoping to have those ready tomorrow or Friday, but we are still working with PowerSchool to get them completed. We greatly appreciate your patience as we work to get these out to you as quickly as possible.
